Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT) was founded in 2001 with the vision of becoming a centre of excellence in the field of IT and related emerging areas of education, training and research comparable to the best in the world for producing professionals who shall be leaders in innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and management. JIIT has been AICTE approved, NIRF ranked from 2016 to till now and also accredited by NAAC Ministry of HRD, Government of India. State-of-the-art environmentally conditioned campus comprises smart buildings with Wi-Fi connectivity covering the Academic Block, Business School cum Research Block, Faculty Residences, Student Hostels, and Annapurna which provides a pleasant and stimulating ambience. The institute has well-equipped modern laboratories and an intellectually stocked Learning Resource Centre and E-Resources in the form of journals and other learning materials.
Department of Physics and Materials Science & Engineering (PMSE) has not only played a key role in supporting the undergraduate education for all disciplines in JIIT but also attracted the world wide attention by carrying out exceptional research in the fields of Advanced Materials, Nano Materials, Optics, Plasma Physics and Quantum Information Theory. The Department of PMSE has been running M.Sc. (Physics), M.Tech. (Materials Science and Engineering) and Ph.D. Programme with 24 expert faculty members who are actively engaged in cutting edge research in frontier areas of physical sciences and nanotechnology. The department is actively involved in research areas of Atomic & Molecular Physics; Plasma Physics; Quantum Optics and Quantum Information; Optical Fiber and Photonics; Nanomaterials, Solid State Ionics, Spintronics, Advanced functional materials. So for department has published more than 350 papers in the journals of international repute.
