The main objective of the FDP is promoting values and nurturing culture that facilitates academic and professional development of teachers. We need to rejuvenate our education system for faculty enhancement. The major focus of FDP is to upgrade the teaching, training and content development skills of participants. The programme enables the participants to develop competence to understand recent advancement in teaching methodology, research, pedagogies, effective presentation techniques, and behavioral skills to be an effective faculty. The programme is managed by experienced faculty from JIIT and other institutions for the holistic exposure in teaching, training, and industry trends.
Huge amount of biological data has accumulated at rapid pace due to advent of high through put technologies such as microarrays, next generation sequencing technologies, and proteomics. Bioinformatics has evolved as an independent discipline contributing in drug discovery, assisting in the interpretation of experimental data and also providing important leads for further experimental research. The post‐genomic era is witnessing the emergence of innovative bioinformatics databases, algorithms and tools to store, analyze and interpret biological sequences and structures, ultimately aimed at improving the quality of life. The Faculty Development Program at JIIT aims to provide a vibrant platform for interaction of the faculty with the experts to synergize the potentials for a sustained research and teaching in Bioinformatics. The technical hands on sessions will provide an in‐depth knowledge in bioinformatics starting from the basic concepts to the complexities of various biological problems and solving them.
Embedded System is widely being used in various systems that range in size from simple calculator and toys to complex systems such as Humanoids. This FDP aims at training of embedded system using 8051 to the faculty as well as researcher with the basic knowledge of electronics hardware and interfacing software, so that they can build up expertise in how microcontrollers based systems can be developed and deployed in embedded system products.
Many embedded systems also interact with their physical environment using a variety of sensors and/or actuators. Hands-on on few sensors and actuators will be delivered in this FDP. Embedded systems are typically used over long periods of time, will not (or cannot) be programmed or maintained by its end-users, and often face significantly different design constraints such as limited memory, low cost, strict performance guarantees, fail-safe operation, low power, reliability and guaranteed real-time behavior. These design constraints will be discussed in few case studies.

Accenture conducted an event “Innovation Jockey”. It was an excellent opportunity for students to think out of the box. Students were required to present their Business Innovations and plans that would change the way Retail, Finance and Public Services operate today by combining technology drivers such as Social Media, Mobility and Analytic.
JIIT Sector 128, Noida is organizing a 6-days Faculty Development Program on “Wireless Sensor Networks”.
In the past few years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has emerged as an interesting area for research and applications e.g. military, healthcare, transport, agriculture, industry and many more. WSNs, as the spatially distributed networks consisted of a number of relatively simple, low-cost, low-power components interconnected mutually, provide quite wide application portfolio for different branches of economy. This makes it imperative to identify and then simplify the challenging issues. Thus, in order to expand the applicability, it would require a good knowledge of cross-functional fundamentals such as development of new communication protocols, energy- efficient power sources, ultra-low-power microelectronic components etc.
The objective of Faculty Development Program is to inculcate awareness among the teachers and researchers towards the major challenging areas of WSNs such as hardware architecture, protocol suite, routing protocols, energy management, localization procedures, and simulation environment. It would include ample hands-on practice along with expert lectures from the eminent faulty members of our institute (all IIT/IIIT/NIT alumni).
The computational methods play an increasingly important role in the mathematical modeling of all problems of Science and Engineering. The elementary methods of numerical computation, therefore, constitute an important ingredient to all the courses given at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. However the knowledge of advanced techniques is also essential to every teacher involved in computing. The advancement in computational tools has further accelerated the use of computational techniques in various problems of practical utility around us. The aim of the faculty development program is to give an exposure of the latest advances in computing methods and to disseminate the same to the faculty members, scientists, engineers from educational institutions and industry. The main emphasis will be on the various applicational aspects of computing methods in relation to diverse areas of mathematics and engineering sciences. The demonstrations and problem solving sessions in the lab will be an integral part of the program each day.
This FDP program is aimed to impart advance level training in the specialized and emerging areas of Physics and Materials Science and to fulfill the needs of teaching and research in academic institutions. The program will be conducted through a series of talks by some of JIIT faculty and speakers from outside.
Coverage Areas
Signal processing is concerned with the representation, manipulation and transformation of signals and the information that they carry. It provides techniques for processing acquired time-series data for the purpose of efficient analysis and synthesis. Over the years, it has been developed to give great advancements in the areas of microchips, digital systems and computer hardware. The applications of signal processing are vast and interdisciplinary, ranging from engineering to economics and astronomy to biology. In digital communication system, many blocks such as source coding, channel coding, encryption and modulation are largely signal processing operations. Recent decade has witnessed major revolution in communication and processing of digital media. As a consequence solutions to major problems in processing, transmission and reception have made signal processing an integral part of modern electronic systems.
The FDP aims to discuss basics in some chosen areas and provide exposer of latest developments in some areas of wireless communications, speech and image processing. Some demonstrations and problem solving sessions using Matlab will be an integral part of the program.
