Department Of Electronics and Communication Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is the backbone of contemporary communication systems and stands as the cornerstone of modern communication systems, governing myriad aspects in the contemporary era. It is governing anything to everything in the current era. The telecom sector is growing at a very fast rate, solidifying ECE as an essential branch of engineering for sustainability and progress. The evolving technologies: Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial IoT (IIoT), Augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR), AI/ML, haptics, edge offloading, edge computing, nano scale manufacturing, fabrication and the like, heavily rely on the ECE branch of engineering. From the design to fabrication of components/electronic devices, to their communication, everything lies under the curriculum of the ECE programs.
Considering the timely necessity of this branch of engineering, the Department of Electronics and Communication offers a number of programs.
The department focuses on building up of a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging a free interchange of ideas so that students can attain their highest potential. It also offers surplus opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, research and industry-academia collaboration. The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind all these aspects of academics and research. This aids an overall development of the students.
The Department celebrates both faculty and student achievements, recognizing excellence in academia and beyond. The students undergo a transformative academic journey, equipping them with the skills and experiences necessary to excel in diverse roles.
Thrust Areas of the Department
With the aim of extending the rewards of electronics across all spheres of life and empowering students to become self-reliant contributors to the Indian electronics industry on the global stage, the department focuses on six key thrust areas, where faculty and students engage in research and innovation:
- Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Embedded Systems
- RF and Microwave Engineering

- Wireless and Optical Communication (Next-generation communication)
Advanced Research Facilities
The department of Electronics and Communication has exceptionally well-equipped state-of-the-art facilities in its primary research fields owing to its significant focus on advanced and current experimental research in applied electronics and technological development activities. The department has recently been sanctioned a 5G use case lab by the Department of Telecom (DoT), Government of India, to pursue next generation research in the domain of 5G and 6G communication. It is one of the 100 labs set-up in the country. Apart from the new communication lab, the department has a Fabrication lab also, to create an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem for budding researchers. The details of the advanced research facilities available in the department is given below.
