M.Sc. Chemistry

Department of Chemistry at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, offers a two year postgraduate program in  Chemistry. The MSc Chemistry program provides a thorough understanding of basic and applied chemical sciences, combining theoretical knowledge, practical expertise, and research-focused project work. The curriculum comprises of 17 core courses, five elective courses, one audit course and research project in area of specialization.  The program has been designed with an optimum blend of fundamental and advanced courses in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, and industrial chemistry. Theory courses are further strengthened by well-equipped laboratories for in-depth understanding of the subject. Furthermore, elective courses in specialized fields allow students to explore emerging areas such as green chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry,spectroscopy, polymer chemistry, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology, etc., enhancing their adaptability to pursue careers in diverse fields. The hands-on research project develops critical thinkingand sharpens the problem-based learning skills.

Chemistry postgraduates with interdisciplinary knowledge, can adapt to various fields, making them versatile professionals in the job market. Their strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and laboratory expertise make them well-suited for careers in academia, research, and Industry (Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical,  Biotechnological, Forensic, Agrochemical, Healthcare, Food & Beverage Industry). These industries/academic/research institutions hire postgraduates in chemistry as Analytical Chemists, Organic Chemists, Material Chemists, Environmental Chemists, Product Development Officers, Quality Control & Quality Assurance Officers and Forensic Scientists. Additionally, chemists also play a significant role as environmental consultants, regulatory affairs, patent consultants, data analysts and  Entrepreneurship.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate degree in  any science discipline with Chemistry as one of the subject (Chemistry/Life Sciences/Medical Sciences/any branch of Biology/ Biotechnology/Physics or a related field) from a recognized university  under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern with Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in higher secondary level, securing minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) or equivalent grade point on a 10-point scale in the aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three/four years of undergraduate course.
